My mom spins. She taught herself after one class. In fact, she's such a silly that she's spinning one of her dog's hair. Odd, but more common than I thought!
Yeah, it's pretty common - there are places online where you can send in trash bags of your dog's hair and they'll spin it for you and give you a pattern for mittens or a sweater or whatever. I've made felted balls out of my cat's hair before, but I don't know if I'd want to wear a dog sweater. :)
