Update on my P. story from yesterday.

I know I say "I almost got hit on the way home from work today!" a lot, but this time it was true. :)

I was waiting at the corner to cross the street, reading my book (A Russian Debutante's Handbook), waiting for the light to change. I looked up just after it changed, and I started across the street. I got like two steps, and I heard a LOUD screech, and a guy walking down the sidewalk yelled "whoa!" and I jumped back. A car stopped right where I'd been a second ago, with smoke coming from its wheels. When it'd stopped all the way, I kept going across the street. The dude had kids in his car and everything. It took me a while to catch my breath.

On the news a few hours ago, there was a story about the lady who called a family and told them she was their daughter who'd been kidnapped in the '80s, but was lying. Some nameless guy said "the human in me is very upset about this."
