I've started looking at tripcheck.com to see if our planned weekend at Mom's house in Redmond is feasible. Getting from Portland to Redmond over the Cascade Mountains is relatively easy, since Timberline Lodge is off that highway, and lots of skiers go up and down that way. But Highway 20 over the Santiam Pass is a little more hairy, and as of right now it says chains are required for 10 miles over the summit of the pass. If they're still required on Friday we're not going, but I hear it's supposed to warm up a bit and stop snowing between now and then. Hope so!
