CSA Week 5
Jul. 3rd, 2008 07:38 amI'm a little late, but to make up for it I took a photo somewhere besides my stove!

This week:
Mustard Greens
Lettuce
Potatoes
Carrots
Purple Kohlrabi
Scallions
Onion
Zucchini
Cucumber
Basil
And our first tomato!
Last night's dinner was sourdough bread with a basil-mayo spread and sliced tomatoes, broiled for a couple of minutes in the toaster oven. What a nice way to celebrate July and the start of tomato (and basil) season! Yum. Most of the rest of the veggies are coming with us to Redmond, where my family will share them.
I think one of my favorite things about this CSA is looking at how beautiful vegetables are. I love chopping them up and looking at their color and the patterns inside and outside. I usually take the head of lettuce to Cory to admire before I start pulling leaves off. Nature is a pretty good artist.
