Crap, I think I'm getting sick. I haven't been sick in ages. I woke up with my throat feeling sick, and now it hurts and I'm poppin' Ricola like crazy while I update my resume.

I picked up Spiritual Midwifery at Borders (it was the only one of like four books I was looking for that was in stock) and I like it. When I was on the phone with Mom this morning she said that people tend to be fascinated with the lifestyle and culture ten years before they're born. She's really into the '40s - the furniture, the cars, all that stuff. I'm fascinated with the '70s, with the hippies and cults and communes and all that stuff. In one of the birth stories I read last night, the author used "far-out" and "tripping" and "heavy" so many times that it made me laugh. And I thought kids these days over-used their 5 slang words. :D

(no subject)

Just as my coworker predicted (well, she just told me about her getting sick a couple of days ago), things are looking down this evening. Luckily I got some dinner down before my throat decided it didn't want me to swallow anymore. I gargled some warm water with tons of salt and baking soda (EWW) and gagged a couple of times (I hadn't gargled in years!) until I got a rhythm going. I still hurt though, partly because I have gunk down there that is trying to come up and coughing does bad things to my esophagus. So I'm staying quiet and trying not to breathe too hard so that I don't have to cough, and whatever's in there can stay in there for a little while.

The rest of me feels just fine though. Hopefully that won't change, but if it does I may have to play hooky from work.
